Last Softball Tournament

Brielle had her last Softball Tournament of the year this weekend. Her team did not win either of the two games they played, they just could not seem to get any hits!!! The games were exciting but it was sad to watch them lose especially since it was the last games of the year. The girls handled it well, mostly because they were all very excited to be headed back to Roger's Campground to go in the pool!!! Of course after dinner was s'mores time, very popular.

I had to put in at least one softball picture of Brielle at bat. I also wanted to show what the site was like. Most of the rest of the team stayed in a tent a few sites above us. We tried to get them to share the camper when we knew there was rain coming but they stuck with the tent. We did pick up one player on Saturday night. The video is Brielle and her team mate Alyssa Dancing while it is pouring rain outside, they had a great time.

Brielle's softball tournament local edition

Brielle had great coaches for softball this year. They are always positive no matter how much I am pulling my hair out of my head while watching they are praising and reinforcing the girls. Sometimes they have games where they are allowed to steal bases and the coach gets carried away and sends them when he shouldn't. It is hard to watch them get unnecessary outs when they are struggling to win games.

Flower quiz and softball

Can you guess what the flowers are? They are some of what I have flowering right now. 6-11-09 Sooo many responses to my quiz!!!! Well none actually. Allium, clematis, rhododendron, and weigela.

Brielle had a softball game today and they won! She caught her first pop fly, barely, and she got the hit in the video. She also went to Concord and shook Governor Lynch's hand! She said she is not going to wash that hand ever again.

Brielle pitches for the first time

Brielle had a game today that she was really excited about because she was going to pitch for her first time! We where very anxious about it, worried that she would get down on herself if she didn't do well. She did very well for her first attempt. She pitched for one inning which I think was a good start. She walked quite a few batters but she managed to get three outs to end the inning. There are lots of times that pitchers walk so many batters that after five runs they just switch field positions to keep the game going. We plan on as much practise as possible before she pitches again and she definitely wants to do it again, she loved it. They did win this game 7-4 I think.

softball softball softball

I see lots of foreign flags in the counter, anyone can leave a comment as long as it is appropriate and not advertisements.
Mom took some pictures that is why there is one of me at the game. Thanks to Ken and Mom for coming to support Brielle. I tried to get a video of Brielle getting a hit but she was walked at each at bat.

Kevin and his wife and stepdaughter come to the games to watch his other stepdaughter play. We have become our own little cheering section, along with Mom and Ken. It is nice to spend time with Kevin again, we have drifted apart over the years. Brielle is going to pitch her first game on Friday!!!! I am very anxious for her, I don't want her to get too down on herself if she does not do well. She came out of dance practice with broken glasses so I am also worried that may be an issue for her pitching.
This sunset was the view for us on our drive home from the game. Naturally the picture doesn't do it justice, it was beautiful.

Brielles first game and club house

Brielle had her first game of softball today. She did not win but played very well and was satisfied with her teams performance. The other team had played two times before so had a little more experience. It was an incredible day for a game, our warmest yet this year. As I type this at 10:00 pm it is still 67 degrees out. The high today was supposed to be around eighty but I never did check it. Thanks to Mom and Ken for coming to the game and for a great lunch after.

Brielle is the fourth one in from the left in the back row(I am including the coach in that count). I am pretty sure she is the tallest on her team and according to her the second fastest. Brielle did a very good job batting but she likes to stretch for the high pitches. We are very proud of how she played and her positive attitude.

When we got home Brielle took a nap, I think she was worn out from all the nervous excitement of her first game, and then we got to work on her "club house". Brielle and a couple of her friends decided one day that they were going to convert one of the coops into a club house. I helped to convince her to use the old turkey coop. She did a considerable amount of cleaning and then we both painted the inside white. We have an old rug that will go in tomorrow and I haven't told her but I plan on making some stools and a table too. I had always planned on making a tree house, maybe this will do instead.
The painted tree is a mixture of latex paint and drywall mud. it is supposed to keep apple borers away from the tree. I lost one tree to them and had another rot near ground level. I'm not sure what was up with that one.
